About me & résumé
Are you interested in details about my work experience? You can find my résumé on LinkedIn here, or you can email me for a prettier, more detailed PDF version.
In June 2010 I graduated with distinction from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, with a B.A. (Hons.) in English literature. I interned at a Canadian literary publishing house, the Porcupine’s Quill, for almost two years — sadly my contract ended on March 31, 2011. Most of this internship was completed remotely: from September 2010 to May 2011, I lived in Avignon, France, where I held a second job as an English language teaching assistant to hundreds of French teenagers at Lycée Philippe de Girard. For two months afterward, I travelled the continent with my partner-in-crime, Justin. In the fall I head to the University of Victoria, British Columbia, to earn my MA in English literature.
I love talking, reading, and writing about books — and about digital publishing — and about how people can make a living off of great creative talent. In July 2010 I completed, and loved, the Book Publishing Immersion at Simon Fraser University. I love reading just about anything, but my original love is fantasy (of all shapes and sizes). I’m a regular reviewer and editor at The Ranting Dragon, a fantasy news and reviews site.
I also like more everyday things like sleepy puppies, absurdly easy recipes, social justice, and an ice-cold MGD. My favourite thing in the whole wide world is smelly French cheese. You can email me — about anything! — at minshallc [at] gmail [dot] com.
